• The U.S Environmental Protection Agency created the ¨Plug-In to eCycling¨ program to reduce the environmental impact of electronic products during their production, use and disposal. The EPA joins with electronics companies to collect and safely recycle used equipment such as cell phones, computers and audio and video equipment. An active participant in the program since its inception in 2003,Sharp has been recognized by the EPA for its performance every year.

In recognition of Sharp’s outstanding environmental practices and commitment to a sustainable future, the company has been honored with the Evergreen Award from the U.S Government’s General Services Administration (GSA) National Furniture Center (NFC), in the category of Technologies and Electronics. This award is granted to the government contractor that actively demonstrates the highest overall commitment to environmentally sound manufacturing and operating procedures. Sharp was one of only three companies awarded this year, as top environmentally conscientious business partners for their efforts in re-cycling, affirmative procurement and waste reduction.

Sharp's Life Changing Box is part of a marketing strategy developed to promote a new campaign from Lowe New York. The client sponsoring the application was revealed to be SHARP.
LifeChangingBox.com was originally a mysterious website designed to intrigue users and until Sharp was revealed as the client behind Life Changing Box, users were encouraged to guess what was inside the “Life Changing Box.”
This was all part of a first of its kind Facebook contest and ran from June 12th to July 14th , 2008. Thousands of dollars in prizes were awarded to players of the Facebook Lifechangingbox game.
Lifechangingbox.com is now an interactive flash based informational site designed to educate about SHARP as the official HDTV of Major League Baseball, commitment towards the environment, and groundbreaking LCD technology.
